Proximity Detection for Underground Safety
Collision avoidance is a critical element in mine safety. The mining industry is recognising the human and dollar value in preventing potential hazards and how implementing proximity detection systems (PDS) can produce long-term benefits to productivity.
In many cases, collisions are a major cause of mine fatalities and the impact to the mines business operations can be significant if steps to minimize the risk of collisions is not addressed.
Green’s Creek, a large silver mine in Alaska, owned by Hecla Mining Company identified that vehicle to vehicle collisions are a major risk in their operations. They discovered how to improve the safety of their workers and assets by implementing solutions to prevent collisions from happening.
