AusIMM International Women's Day Luncheon 2024
Celebrating International Women’s Day: A reflection on AusIMM’s Luncheons
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we at MST Global are filled with gratitude for the enriching experience we had at the recent AusIMM International Women’s Day Luncheons held in Sydney and Brisbane. These events were not only inspirational but also served as reminders of the importance of inclusivity, diversity and perseverance in both the workplace and society.
In Sydney, we had the privilege of hearing from Marlee Silva, whose journey in the professional arena has been nothing short of remarkable. Marlee shared candidly about her challenges in the workplace and how she drew strength from her family’s legacy to overcome obstacles and thrive. Her insights into inclusivity and diversity, viewed through the lens of a young woman, resonated deeply with many attendees. Marlee’s story exemplifies the notion that with dedication and determination, one can achieve anything.
Equally as moving was the experience in Brisbane, where we were taken away by the story of Jelena Dokic. Despite enduring a difficult upbringing, Jelena emerged as a beacon of resilience and strength. Her journey serves as a powerful reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope, and by taking control of our narratives, we can shape our future. Jelena’s unwavering spirit left a mark on all of us and highlighted the importance of persistence and resilience.
The AusIMM International Women’s Day Luncheons were held at prestigious venues, with Sydney’s event taking place at the Ivy Ballroom and Brisbane’s at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to AusIMM for hosting such an impactful event that allowed everyone to discuss and reflect.
We are immensely proud of all our exceptional women here at MST Global, as well as the women of Komatsu and across the resources sector.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let us reflect on the achievements of women everywhere and commit to #DrivingPositiveChangeTogether. Here’s to an empowered, inclusive and diverse future.
