COVID-19: an update from MST Global’s CEO

The health and safety of our people, their families and our customers is paramount to us.

With the global spread of COVID-19, MST Global will continue to support the mining and tunnelling industry whilst considering the health and safety of our people, our customers and the wider impact on the communities we operate in.

As we service many areas around the globe, we are continually monitoring the situation and ensure that our people’s safety is a primary consideration. We will be following the advice and guidance of our world leaders and the World Health Organization. We will work to protect our employees and support our customers by adapting our work practices and behaviors accordingly.

The following actions have been taken by MST Global to help limit the spread to COVID-19.

In keeping with our value of People Imperative, as of last Tuesday 17th March we made the decision that those employees that are not required to be in the office to complete certain tasks will be working from home, across Australia, Canada, America, Chile, South Africa and Russia. We know that working from home requires a large amount of flexibility and we are proud that our employees have adapted quickly to this challenge. We have set up virtual offices and meetings rooms with continual check-ins from senior leaders to their teams. We have tested our infrastructure and implemented additional tools in an effort to provide uninterrupted services to our customers.

For those of our employees that are working from our offices such as our assembly, workshop and warehouse personnel we have focused on social distancing, frequent hand washing and increased cleaning of our workplaces to ensure we are minimizing the risk of spreading the virus. While we are working remotely, it will be business-as-usual in terms of our customer service and we will continue to have our offices open on a limited basis as long as we can.

In upholding our Safety First approach, all international and non-essential domestic travel has been stopped at MST Global, however in some countries we will consider inter-state travel after discussion with our customers and a final internal review. As we have many personnel on-site, we are in contact with them and are ensuring that they are closely supported throughout this time.

These are unprecedented times and the actions we take today will define how we pull together to beat this global disease. I want to assure our people and our customers that your health and safety are always paramount. With that in mind, I would also ask customers to continue to contact us for support and to work together to find new ways to ensure business continuity.

We continue to manufacture and distribute products and we are actively working to fulfill all orders that have been placed in the last several months. Our technical employees are available for remote support and our account and sales managers are reaching out to explain how this will work.

It is incumbent upon all of us to do our part to stop the spread of this virus by practicing safe physical distancing, frequent hand washing and self-isolation when necessary. We will need to find new innovative ways to protect our families, communities and businesses during this time. We all have an important role to play in this process and it will define our generation for years to come. We will beat this by working together and looking after one another.

Please stay safe,
Haydn Roberts
