Data Communication in Surface Mining

Imesh network lightmplementing a data network across a surface mining operation is complicated by the ever-changing  mine site topography, the mobility of mining equipment, and the periodic movement of fixed infrastructure. It also faces the added complexity of integrating different technologies from different vendors.

MST has built up expertise in designing and deploying high bandwidth mesh networks at both open pit and strip mines. A primary driver for these mobile mesh networks has been to provide a high quality and reliable network to support Fleet Management Systems (FMS) for groups such as Wenco, Leica Jigsaw and Modular Mining.

Nixon Communications, a part of MST, has a proud track record of delivering robust network infrastructure. Our expertise in site surveying, system design and swift deployments delivers site-wide coverage with fit-for-purpose products – from network equipment through to solar trailers.

Our largest systems have been primarily deployed for enabling Fleet Management systems, but smaller systems have been designed for CCTV, Dust Monitoring, Telemetry and a wide variety of other applications.

We advance productivity and safety of assets and personnel by enabling machine health and environmental monitoring, video surveillance, fleet management, and remote control of machinery.
